Symposium on urban development and energy 2011

Abstract
Date: 24-25 November 2011
Location: Berlin, Germany
The conference is being organised by the Berlin Urban Development Institute in cooperation with Project Management Jülich, BINE Information Service and the German Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR). The conference, which is being held in the German Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR), will provide an up-to-date overview of the framework conditions, new requirements and tasks for climate protection in cities and communities.
More details
The intention is to incorporate the findings from the latest research initiatives into community planning practice, including the work on energy efficient cities (EnEff:Stadt), energy efficient heating and cooling networks (EnEff:Wärme) and the model projects concerned with energy-based urban renewal and innovative building refurbishment. In the context of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology’s EnEff:Stadt research initiative, experience gained from planning and constructing an energy-plus housing estate will be presented based on the example of the Ludmilla housing estate.
Details on the Landshut pilot project are also available on this website.
The conference will deal with these topical subjects in presentations on new framework conditions, legal construction and planning matters, innovative climate protection concepts and energy-optimised building. Field trips will allow individual subjects to be viewed in depth on site. In addition, BINE Information Service will provide information and advice on energy-efficient construction projects and funding programmes.
