Main content:
PCM symposium: Room cooling with Phase Change Materials

Abstract
Date: 10-11 November 2009
Location: Karlsruhe
This event will reveal the current state of research on latent heat storage. A range of PCM systems and their effects will be introduced and practical applications, project results and practical experience will be presented. This will give a comprehensive overview of activities in Germany regarding the use of PCMs in buildings. The symposium will also give those present an opportunity to find out more from the manufacturers themselves about the PCM products and systems available on the market.
More details
The event will deal with the following individual topics:
- PCM material for room cooling – principles
- RAL PCM quality association
- Temperature management with PCM ceiling structures
- Effect of PCM systems on electricity generation and provision
- PCM sun protection
- Ventilated cooling ceiling with PCM
- Water-cooled ceiling with PCM
- PCM in lightweight steel construction
- Practical experience with PCM cooling ceilings
- Making light buildings thermally heavy
- PCM express simulation tool
- Simulation of active and passive wall structures
- Storage concepts with PCM for building cooling
- Indoor environment optimisation via façade optimisation
- PCM in the guest house of a company
- Building and refurbishing with PCM
- PCM integration in ventilation systems
- Solar heating and cooling with a compact absorption cooling system and PCM
Tour
As part of this event, participants will have the opportunity to visit offices with installed PCM sun protection and with a rear-ventilated PCM cooling ceiling in Energie Baden-Württemberg’s building in Karlsruhe.
